PRESS RELEASE: FRIENDS OF MURGOITIO PARK SUPPORTS COMPLETION OF THE PARK AND THE ANNEXATION OF IMPACTED PROPERTY NECESSARY IN CONJUNCTION WITH COMPLETION OF THE PARK

Dateline: Boise, ID, July 21, 2021 — The Board of Directors of Friends of Murgoitio Park, Inc. is committed to seeing the completion of Murgoitio Park as a regional park.  We fully understand the statements that have been made by the City of Boise staff and its elected officials that the failure to complete anticipated annexations in this region may have frustrated some of the funding for, and the completion of, Murgoitio Park.

We have recently observed a level of uncertainty and a lack of specifics in the public discourse regarding the history of annexation efforts in this geographic area as well as the annexation process itself. Friends of Murgoitio Park seeks to make a clear statement on this complex subject. The Board of Directors of Friends of Murgoitio Park, Inc. has unanimously adopted resolutions to the following effect:

In conjunction with the completion of Murgoitio Park as a regional park, Friends of Murgoitio Park supports the annexation of the necessary geographic areas impacted by Murgoitio Park. Friends of Murgoitio Park supports such annexation so long as the present covenants and/or deed restrictions on the Murgoitio park site are not removed from the property.

Furthermore, Friends of Murgoitio Park is committed to working with the City of Boise to seek financial support, whether from corporations, nonprofits, charitable foundations, individuals, or otherwise, to fund the completion of Murgoitio Park as a regional park.
